BIOGRAPHY

Stewart D. Redwood, BSc (Hons), PhD, FIMMM, FGS, FSA Scot is an independent geological consultant specializing in minerals exploration, economic geology and business development worldwide. He specializes in epithermal and porphyry-skarn copper, gold, silver and zinc deposits in South America, Central America and the Caribbean. He has more than 35 years exploration experience. He has visited 69 countries, is bilingual in English and Spanish, and speaks some Portuguese and French. He is from Scotland and is resident in Panama.

Dr. Redwood has a degree in geology from Glasgow University (1982) and obtained his Ph.D from Aberdeen University (1986) for his work on the gold and silver deposits of Bolivia. From 1986 to 1988 he was a Higher Scientific Officer with the British Geological Survey based in Edinburgh, Scotland. He returned to Bolivia as the Director of Exploration for Mintec S.A., a Bolivian consulting firm, from 1989 to 1994. During this period he is credited with recognising the potential of the San Cristobal silver-zinc deposit, now the largest mine in Bolivia. In 1994 he joined Metall Mining Corporation, later called Inmet Mining Corporation (now First Quantum Minerals Ltd.), as Project Geologist and then Senior Geologist in South and Central America, and was latterly the General Manager for Peru. This included a secondment from 1996 to 1998 to Compañia Minera Antamina S.A., Peru to work on the Antamina resource definition and feasibility study, now the world’s largest skarn deposit. In 2000, he joined AngloGold South America Ltd. (now AngloGold Ashanti) as Chief Geologist South America for the company's mine site and greenfields gold exploration.

 

Since 2001 he has worked as an independent consultant geologist and business developer of exploration & discovery companies (E&D). He has provided consulting services for clients in Latin America, the Caribbean, North America, Europe, Scandinavia, Turkey and East Africa, and written almost 400 reports.

 

He has been a co-founder and/or developer of several companies including Exploration & Discovery Latin America (Panama) Inc.; GoldQuest Mining Corp., of which he was President & CEO, which discovered the Romero South (La Escandalosa) gold-copper deposit and Las Animas massive sulphide deposits in the Dominican Republic; Horizonte Minerals plc (Brazil); Colombia Goldfields Ltd (Marmato, Colombia); and Caribbean Copper & Gold Corp.

 

Dr. Redwood is a Fellow of The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (FIMMM), a Fellow of the Geological Society of London (FGS), a Fellow of the Society of Economic Geologists, a Member of the Geological Society of America, and a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland (FSA Scot). He has published over 170 papers, articles and conference abstracts.

 

The FIMMM is recognized as a Qualifying Person under Canadian NI 43-101 rules and Dr. Redwood is the author or co-author of 30 NI 43-101 Technical Reports.

2001 to present: Independent Geological Consultant based in Panama City, Panama. Assignments for exploration and mining of gold, copper, silver, zinc, tin, lithium, graphite and other metals in South America, Central America, the Caribbean, North America, Europe, Scandinavia, Turkey and East Africa. Author of over 400 reports including 30 NI 43-101 technical reports. Business developer of and/or consultant to several exploration and discovery companies (E&D), including those described below.

 

2015 to present. Regulus Resources Inc., Vancouver, Canada (TSX-V), AntaKori copper-gold-silver project, Cajamarca, Peru. Consultant geologist. Exploration and resource definition of a multi-stage skarn-porphyry-epithermal Cu-Au-Ag project.

 

2011 to present. Gran Colombia Gold Corp., Toronto, Canada (TSX:GCM), Senior Consultant Geologist to Marmato and Segovia gold projects, Colombia.

 

2007 to 2010. Caribbean Copper & Gold Corp., Toronto, Canada. Founder, Director and Vice President of Exploration. Private company that explored for gold and copper in Colombia and Panama. Sold the Quinchia and Miraflores gold projects to Seafield Resources Ltd. in 2010.

 

2006 to 2009. Colombia Goldfields Ltd., Toronto, Canada (TSX-V). Vice President of Exploration. Merged with Medoro Resources Ltd. in 2009. Senior consultant to successors Medoro Resources Ltd. (2009-11) and Gran Colombia Gold Corp. (2011-present). Definition of 15 Moz gold and 90 Moz silver at the Marmato deposit, and reserve definition at the Segovia gold mine, Colombia.

 

2005 to 2006. Horizonte Minerals Plc, London (AIM). Co-founder. Minmet spin-off with gold and base metal exploration portfolio in Brazil. Subsequently made a major nickel laterite discovery in Brazil (Araguaia).

 

2004 to 2005. GoldQuest Mining Corp., Toronto, Canada (TSX-V). Founder, President, Chief Executive Officer and Director. Responsible for listing the company on Toronto Stock Exchange TSX-V. Gold exploration in Dominican Republic. Made the initial grass-roots discoveries of the Escandalosa (now Romero) gold-copper deposit and the Las Animas Au-Ag-Cu-Zn deposit, Dominican Republic.

 

2002 to 2005. Minmet plc, Dublin, Ireland (AIM). Company Chief Geologist; Exploration Manager, Sweden. Gold and zinc exploration and mining in Brazil, Sweden (Björkdal Mine) and Spain. Helped build up the company into an incubator company with shareholdings in a portfolio of companies. Spun-off GoldQuest Mining Corp. on TSX-V and Horizonte Minerals plc on AIM.

 

2001 to 2004. Exploration & Discovery Latin America (Panama) Inc., Panama. Founder, Director and Chief Operational Officer. Gold, silver and copper exploration in Dominican Republic, Central America and Peru. Listed as GoldQuest Mining Corp. in 2004.

 

2000. AngloGold South America Ltd (now AngloGold Ashanti Ltd), Johannesburg, South Africa. Chief Geologist for South America, based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Supervised mine-site gold exploration at Cerro Vanguardia, Argentina; Morro Velho, Cuiaba and Crixas in Brazil; generative gold exploration programs in Peru, Ecuador and Colombia; and project reviews in Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Peru, Dominican Republic and Nevada.

 

1994 to 1999. Metall Mining Corporation (merger of Metallgesellschaft AG, Frankfurt, Germany spin-off and Minnova Inc., Toronto, Canada) / Inmet Mining Corporation (from 1995, now First Quantum Minerals Ltd), Toronto, Canada. Based in Panama City, Panama (1994-98) and Lima, Peru (1998-99). Exploration for gold, copper and zinc in South and Central America. Project Geologist for Panama and South America, 1994-95. Senior Geologist for South America, 1995-99. In 1996-98 seconded to Compañia Minera Antamina S.A., Peru (Inmet 50%, Rio Algom 50%), as Chief Geologist and Site Manager for the drill-out and feasibility study of the US$2.5 billion Antamina copper-zinc project, now the world’s biggest skarn deposit. This resulted in a four-fold increase in reserves to 500 Mt grading 1.2% Cu and 1.0% Zn. Chief Geologist, Inmet Peru, 1997-98. General Manager, Inmet Peru, 1998-99. Grass-roots discovery of the Tucumachay sediment-hosted gold prospect, Peru (1998).

 

1989 to 1994. Mintec S.A. (Mineria Tecnica Consultores Asociados), La Paz, Bolivia. Director of Exploration & Partner. Consulting group for gold, silver, platinum, copper, zinc, tin and tungsten exploration and mining in Bolivia. Credited with identifying the potential of the San Cristobal silver-zinc deposit, leading to the subsequent discovery by Minmet and Apex Silver Corporation, and the buyout of Minmet (renamed Andean Silver Corporation). It is now the largest mine in Bolivia.

 

1986 to 1989. British Geological Survey, Edinburgh, Scotland. Higher Scientific Officer, Highlands & Islands Unit. Regional geological mapping surveys (Huntly and Portsoy sheets), and gold and platinum exploration in Scotland, with discovery of gold mineralization at two localities in Scotland.

 

1986. Geoscience Services Ltd., Aberdeen, Scotland. Marine Geologist and Organic Geochemist in offshore oil exploration surveys on ship-board cruises in the Norwegian and Barents Seas (Norway), including the area of the Snøvit gas discovery.
